Estonia has 12 public holidays in 2026. Four pre-holiday workdays (23 Feb, 22 Jun, 23 Dec and 31 Dec) are shortened by 3 hours under TLS §53.

Formula and variables

holidays(2026) = fixed dates ∪ {Good Friday, Easter, Pentecost}. Easter uses the Gauss algorithm; Good Friday = Easter − 2; Pentecost = Easter + 49. Short workdays are the days before 24 Feb, 23 Jun, 24 Dec or 1 Jan of the next year.

Scope and exclusions

Suitable for Estonian payroll and HR planning. Does not cover collective-agreement leave days or foreign calendars. If a short day falls on a weekend, no separate shortening applies.

Examples

  • Working days in March 2026

    March 2026 has no public holidays. Working days = calendar days − weekends (use the working-days calculator).

  • April 2026 holidays

    3 April (Good Friday) and 5 April (Easter) are free. 4 April (Saturday) is already a weekend.

  • Short day before Christmas

    23 December 2026 is a Wednesday — the workday is shortened by 3 hours (TLS §53).
