How to prepare for retirement and choose Estonia’s official calculator

A practical checklist for choosing between accrued-rights data and future-decision modelling. 777.ee does not calculate or store your pension data.

This is a decision guide, not a pension calculator. 777.ee does not ask for an Estonian personal identification code, date of birth, salary, employment record, pension balances or a login, and it does not calculate a personal pension amount. A reliable estimate depends on rights recorded in official registers and on clearly stated assumptions. Choose the question first 1. To see pension rights already accrued and the estimate attached to them, open the Sotsiaalkindlustusamet self-service pension calculator. It uses official register data and requires secure authentication on the authority’s own service. 2. To compare how current income, retirement timing, or second- and third-pillar choices may affect the future, use the public Sotsiaalkindlustusamet pension-plan model. The authority describes it as a simplified theoretical model, not an exact personal pension calculation. 3. Check an actual second- or third-pillar balance, joining year, and personal fund information in Pensionikeskus or the provider’s official service. Do not copy those values into 777.ee: this guide has no input form or account. Why 777.ee does not publish its own pension amount A personal old-age pension does not come from one public formula. The official model may need birth and retirement timing, current income, service earned before 1999, insurance units for 1999–2020, combined units from 2021, second- and third-pillar balances and contributions, and unemployment or part-time periods. A future scenario also depends on economic and life-expectancy forecasts. Without the register record, the same versioned parameters, and official control examples, a 777.ee number would look precise but would not be verifiable. Prepare before opening the official service • Decide whether you need rights accrued today or a future scenario. • Check first-pillar service and units in the official register rather than reconstructing them from memory. • Use Pensionikeskus to check second- and third-pillar balances, participation, and current contribution choices. • Write down assumptions you can change separately: retirement timing, future work, and pillar contributions. • Compare scenarios by changing one assumption at a time, so the effect of each decision remains visible. • Record the date of the check and read the limitations shown with the official result. A projection is neither a pension award decision nor investment advice. Read the result carefully Distinguish today’s value from future euros: the same nominal amount can represent different purchasing power. Check whether the result includes the first, second and third pillars or only one component. Note the retirement month and any return or indexation assumptions. If accrued rights in authenticated self-service differ from a prefilled public-model estimate, rely on the official register data and ask Sotsiaalkindlustusamet for clarification when needed.
